The Crusader House by Drewett Works
At the Crusader House in North Scottsdale’s Estancia, architecture and landscape exist in quiet, deliberate harmony. Designed by Drewett Works the structure’s angular, jet-inspired lines soar over a landscape that feels both curated and untouched.
Chad Norris’ landscape design draws from Sonoran Desert minimalism—anchored by towering saguaro cacti, ocotillo, and native shrubs that mirror the verticality and rhythm of the architecture. Plantings are sparse but intentional, allowing the natural desert canvas to breathe and speak for itself.
Boulders and native stone are seamlessly integrated into the terrain, while soft desert hues—sage, sand, rust—create a palette that blurs the boundaries between structure and soil. The negative-edge pool and elevated spa curve around the terrain, reflecting cacti and sky in their mirror-like surfaces.
Strategic uplighting accentuates the home’s dynamic rooflines and the vertical silhouettes of the saguaros at night, creating a cinematic glow across the landscape.
This is desert modernism at its finest—raw, refined, and rooted in place.
